Sundays at St Anne's

“Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God” (John 1:12)

Welcome!

You can be sure of a warm welcome and we're always glad to see new people.

What kinds of people come to St Annes? Old people and young people. Black people and white people. Middle class and working class people. In fact, every kind of person. We aim to be a friendly welcoming church, open to people of all ages and backgrounds. Whatever stage you are in your own spiritual journey we hope you will feel at home at St James.

What can I expect? A relaxed informal service with a mix of traditional hymns and modern songs, and a down-to-earth message from the Bible that connects with everyday life.

When does the service start? 9.30am.

What is the dress code? Most people dress casually but there are no hard and fast rules.

How will I know what to do? Our services are simple and straightforward with no standing on ceremony. The service leaders give clear directions so everyone knows what to do.

What about the kids? Children are very welcome. We don't mind noise. If you need it, there is a creche room for children under 4 (from which parents can see and hear the service).

Where is the church? The church is in the middle of Thorburn Square, SE1 5QH. You can enter the square from Simms Rd, Fort Rd, Welford Rd or Longley St and you can park in any of those streets. Bus 1 runs along Southwark Park Rd and bus 381 along St James's Rd. The church is a short walk away.

What sort of church is St Anne's? St. Anne’s is a bible-based church with our local community at heart. We offer a warm welcome to newcomers and visitors alike, and aim to encourage the ministry of all our members.

We are a Church of England church in the diocese of Southwark, part of the worldwide Anglican Communion.
